Preparation for the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Certified Personal Care Assistant (CPCA)

Are you ready to deliver critical healthcare services and make a difference in the lives of your community? As a home healthcare aide, you’ll be part of a rewarding profession that provides assistance to elderly, disabled, ill, and mentally disabled persons who live in their own homes or in a residential care facility.
From working with families in which a parent is incapacitated and small children need care to helping discharged hospital patients with short-term needs, you’ll find a variety of job opportunities as a home health aide. Whatever path you choose, you’ll be equipped for success in the rapidly growing home health care field.
Employment of home health and personal care aides is projected to grow 40.2 percent from 2022 to 2032 in California and 32.5 percent in the United States.

Equipped with your certificate from an accredited university, you’ll be qualified to work in a variety of settings, including: hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, homes, long-term care facilities, hospice, and assisted living facilities. Throughout the program, you’ll learn to provide a safe and nurturing environment for individuals and families in need. Whether you want to work as an aide who comes into the home for a few hours a day or as someone who lives in the home full time, you can be confident that you’ll have the knowledge and skills to properly care for individuals in a variety of settings and at any capacity.

The Home Health Aide Certificate Program is offered in the evenings in a classroom setting at CSUEB’s Concord Center.
In order to be issued a certificate of completion for this course, students must pass the class with 70 percent or better. Students will be prepared to take the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Certified Personal Care Assistant (CPCA) national exam.
