Balu Rajagopal brings a wealth of real-world experience and passion for educating the next generation of marketers, entrepreneurs, and executives. With a rare blend of science, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship and management skills, and subject matter expertise, Rajagopal is in a unique position to provide not only a broad perspective but also to dive deep into the dynamics of digital transformation that are impacting every industry, every enterprise, and every business function.

Rajagopal is currently the Founder and CEO of Decision Threads – a provider of data-driven decision-making platform that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help individuals and businesses make smarter decisions. He has been part of 9 high-technology start-ups either as founder or founding member with the last two start-ups acquired by VMware/EMC. He brings over 17 years of experience and expertise in business functions spanning executive management, marketing, business development, product marketing and management, and new product development.

He has an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University; a Masters in Computer Science from Arizona State University, specializing in Distributed Computing, Parallel Processing and Artificial Intelligence; and a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Bangalore University.

How fast can I complete the online program?
You can complete the online program in 9 – 12 months.

How much do I need to know about online tools?
It’s very important that you’re comfortable using a personal computer (PC) to access online material and to collaborate and interact with your peers. To maximize the benefit of these classes, you should be proficient in using a PC to open Internet browsers and able to perform fundamental skills such as copy/paste/save. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.

You should be familiar or become familiar with doing quizzes and exams online with a timed setting. You will have the opportunity to do a sample quiz to familiarize yourself with online test-taking within a timed setting.

How much do I need to know about the subject of marketing and digital technologies?
For current students, you will need to have completed foundation courses in marketing in your undergraduate or graduate studies. If you are a practicing marketing or management professional without a background education in marketing, a minimum of 2 years of marketing experience is recommended.

Will I be learning hands-on?
All required classes to earn the Global Digital Marketing Certificate from Cal State East Bay will be held online. Instruction will be delivered via video, audio, and text materials. In addition, you will be required to collaborate and interact with other students to complete case studies, papers, etc. This makes the class not only fun, but it helps to broaden your mastery of Global Digital Marketing skills.

How is this program different from others?
CSUEB’s Global Digital Marketing program stands out for TWO reasons – (1) You will gain global digital marketing skills and knowledge that you can readily apply in the real-world (2) You will be assessed on application of global digital marketing concepts that you learn in projects, case studies, and assignments.
