Dr. Vish Hegde is a professor of management at California State University, East Bay. He has over 25 years of experience that spans both academic and industrial organizations. He started his career as a mechanical engineer and has worked for three years in aeronautical design and renewable energy systems areas. He obtained his PhD in Operations Management from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997. He then worked for five years in IT companies of which four years was at PeopleSoft as a senior consultant and product manager. He was involved in the implementation of PeopleSoft ERP software at several companies and in IT infrastructure planning for application hosting services business.

He joined California State University, East Bay in 2002 pursuing an academic career, where he wants to bring a blend of academic expertise and industry experience into teaching, research, and consulting. He has published a number of research articles on topics including e-commerce, supply chain management, and project management. He has taught for the executive MBA, graduate, and undergraduate programs at CSUEB. He has taught eleven subjects that include project management, operations and supply chain management, e-commerce, business analytics, new product introduction, and management information systems. He has been teaching project management certification programs to professionals and giving project management seminars and lectures to industries such as BART and CISCO.

Who should take project management courses?
  • Current project managers who have not had the benefit of formal training/distinction that recognizes their expertise and experience.
  • Professionals who seek to complete the educational hours necessary to qualify for the PMP® exam and want to gain end-to-end understanding of the PMBOK® standards book which is the basis for the PMP® test.

Are there requirements to take a project management course?
No, there are no requirements. As long as you can successfully complete the program coursework, you are invited to enroll. 
Will I have to pass an exam to finish the course?
There is no exam required to complete the course for CEU credit.
Will I be PMP® certified after taking CSUEB’s project management courses?
No, Cal State East Bay does not award you with your PMP® credential. The Project Management Institute awards this credential. 
How long does it take to complete the program?
The program can be completed in 11 weeks.
How long is each course?
The program consists of 11 class meetings that are 3.5 hours each.
Is there any work to do outside class time? If so, how much?
There is reading and homework in each class. Students should plan for 2-3 hours of preparation time for each class meeting.
What is the program format?
The program format is online.

Financing

What financing options are available to me?
Traditional financial aid (such as completing the FAFSA, Pell Grants, etc.) is not applicable for Continuing Education certificate programs. Learn more about other financial aid options.
Are any discounts available for this program?
Yes, this program qualifies for the Forever Pioneer discount for Cal State East Bay alumni. You can complete and submit the Forever Pioneer Registration Form to receive the discounted pricing. Advanced registration is required to qualify for the discount.
How much does tuition cost?
The total estimated cost of the Project Management Certificate Program is $2,388 for CEU credit. Please note that program tuition fees are subject to change at any time.

PMI® members receive a 10% discount. Cal State East Bay alumni are eligible to receive a 15% discount.
