The Criminal Justice Certificate Program provides an opportunity for students interested in criminal justice to gain a broad overview of the field by incorporating a basic introduction of the criminal justice system, criminal law, policing, crime prevention, corrections, and victimology. Courses provide a foundational knowledge in each facet of the criminal justice system, and prepare students to access information and develop creative solutions to crime-related concerns.
Courses for this certificate are offered in a Saturday-Hybrid format (in-class and online).
All courses may be applied to the Criminal Justice Baccalaureate Degree (if completed with a grade of C (2.0) or higher).
Students seeking to enter, or already involved in, the criminal justice field will become well-rounded justice professionals by gaining foundational knowledge across the entire criminal justice field, rather than in just one aspect of the justice system. For example, students already working in policing can gain valuable information to apply for promotion by learning about the needs faced by crime victims, recent crime prevention innovations, or the impact of correctional changes on overall community safety.
